Cody Bellinger is having a better Saturday than you are.

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ star right fielder and one of the front-runners for the National League MVP award celebrated his 24th birthday in style, blasting a monster home run at Boston’s Fenway Park. He was then greeted at home plate by audible chants of “M-V-P.”

The seventh-inning blast off Steven Wright returned the Dodgers to a four-run cushion against the Red Sox, and tied Bellinger with reigning MVP Christian Yelich for the league home run lead at 31. Bellinger and the Milwaukee Brewers outfielder seem poised to battle for Most Valuable Player honors in the season’s second half. The sizable contingent of Dodgers fans at Fenway made their voices heard as to who they think the winner should be.

A.J. Pollock, who recently returned from injury, followed Bellinger with a home run blast of his own to push the Dodgers’ lead to 7-2. Los Angeles entered play Saturday with a league-best 60-33 record.
